Posted: Thursday, February 18, 2010
Tri-California has acquired the Alcatraz Challenge from Joe Oakes and Gary Emich, the heart and soul of swimming from Alcatraz. This expands Tri-California's commitment to be ‘everything Alcatraz'. The Alcatraz Challenge season will begin on Memorial Day Weekend with the Alcatraz Challenge Swim from Alcatraz to the beach at Crissy Field in the Presidio on May 30, 2010.
On July 18th the Alcatraz Challenge Aquathlon and Swim will be held with a swim from Alcatraz to Crissy Field and then a run that will cross the Golden Gate Bridge and return to Crissy Field.
There will be Alcatraz Training Clinics throughout the year to get you ready for upcoming events. A swim only clinic will be held on April 16-17th, April 17-18th, July 2-3rd. Alcatraz clinics will feature Coach Reid Swanson, open water swim legend Gary Emich, and professional triathlete Eileen Swanson. An extensive three day clinic will be held on July 30-Aug 1st, one month before the inaugural San Francisco Triathlon at Alcatraz to be held on August 29th.
Tri-California will also have one day training clinics on April 10th and April 11th for the Avia Wildflower Triathlon (event weekend April 30-May 2) June 19th and 20th for the San Francisco Triathlon at Treasure Island (event weekend July 9-11), , August 14th and 15th for the Triathlon at Pacific Grove (event weekend Sept 10-12), and on September 25th for the Scott Tinley's Triathlon at Lake Lopez in San Luis Obispo County (event weekend Oct 1-3).
