Tri-California Events is pleased to announce the addition of a long course event at the Scott Tinley's Adventures Triathlon.
The long course race will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2009 with an 8:00 AM start time. The race will begin with a 1.5 mile (3 loops) lake swim, followed by a 48.8 mile on-road bike course and 9.3 mile run which is entirely in Lake Lopez Park.
About the Long Course Event
1. 5 Mile Swim, 48.8 Mile Bike, 9.3 Mile Run
Following a 1.5 mile swim in Lake Lopez, the bike will begin with a climb out of transitions area, and proceeds with a long down-hill ride on Lake Lopez Drive to Huasna Road. At mile 8.8, the course turns onto Huasna Road which winds through beautiful newly paved back country roads to Huasna Township.
After riding to Huasna Township, turn around at mile 21.9 at the aid station and head back to Lopez Lake Drive for a slightly uphill ride. After crossing the dam, the course flattens out as you ride around the lake. Then, take a right hand turn and proceed up High Mountain Road at mile 43.2 to a turn-around and proceed back to Lake Lopez Drive, into the park and back to the transition area for the run.
The 3 mile run course is the same course used for the on road sprint, and on road international triathlon. Long course participant will complete 3 laps. The course starts with a flat run along Lopez Drive through campgrounds to the Arboleda picnic area. Just past the Arboleda picnic area, participants will turn around and head for a steep uphill climb on Marina Drive followed by a downhill run back to the Marina area and to the finish line!
