A Family Affair

In 2003 my three children and I competed in the Chicago Marathon. It was just such a thrilling event to have us compete in the same race. Although I have since competed in 8 marathons, including 2 at Boston and preparing for my third, after the Chicago race, I decided to take a look at what a triathlon would be like.
I decided a multi-sport might be lots of fun. So my California son and I have since competed in the last three wildflower triathlons. We just loved the beautiful scenery and marvelous experience about camping near Lake San Antonio. I guess my other two children got tired of hearing how much fun we had, so this year they are going to compete too. That makes their 73 year old mother joining the fun with her sons Thornton, 44, from the Bay Area and Eaton, 39, from Chicago and her daughter, Katie, 42, from Howell, Mi. Two of my grandchildren will be our cheerleaders. Triathlons do feel like a family affair, but this one will be a very special family affair.
