Race Week is Here!
Posted: Monday, April 25, 2011
Today is Monday and the beginning of race week for the Avia Wildflower Triathlons. I don’t know about you, but I am excited. I have been race directing this race for 29 years and I get as excited today as I did in the first year. You have been training hard, although most people that I talk to are apologizing for not training hard enough, and you will be ready, or not. There is no turning back from here. This is a taper week and you should only do a couple of light workouts to keep the jitters down not to try to make up for the misses bricks. I have checked out the weather and it looks like it is going to be perfect. Saturday will be sunny with a high of 74 and Sunday will be the same with 72. I love the computerized weather information that we get now, especially when it has little yellow suns all week long. It looks like there is a chance of rain today which would be great as it would settle the dust on the trails and in the campgrounds, but we will not pray for too much. The lake is high and water temperatures should be a balmy 68 degrees. All of our staff members are headed to the lake for the week to finish the final details. When you arrive everything should be ready to go.
