Swim Course
The swim course will begin at the same location as the Long Course Triathlon. It will begin at approximately 9:45 a.m., but the start time will be determined by the last long course swimmers and when they come out of the water. The swim is a 1/4 mile out and back swim. The swimmers will swim clockwise around the clearly marked sailboats and back to the swim finish. There will be several wave starts with Age Group Men, Age Group Women, and Youth. There are no relay teams for the Mountain Bike Triathlon.
Bicycle Course
The bike course is a 9.7 mile course which will be both on and off paved roads. By popular demand, more trails and less road has been added to the course. Triathletes must use mountain bike frames with knobby tires (no road tires allowed). The bike portion of the course will be marked by Large Blue Diamonds.Triathletes leave the transition area to the north and make a quick left through the finish line chute.
Proceed around the store and follow the road down Shoreline Drive to the beach area.
At the base of "Beach Hill" Continue straight off of the road and on to the trails road to Harris Creek Campgrounds.
Proceed though the campgrounds, past the launch ramp to San Antonio Drive.
Triathletes turn right back on to the dirt at the Middle Trail intersection. Bikers on their first loop will go right, at which time they will be body marked indicating their first lap completion. (Athletes are responsible for counting their laps. All athletes not completing 2 laps will be disqualified).
Mountain Bike triathletes will proceed down the trail back to Harris Creek Campgrounds, to the launch ramp and back on to San Antonio Drive.
Go off road again for the second loop, turning left on Middle Trail, and cross Beach Road
Turn left and take Redtail trail to the Lynch Hill intersection.
Proceed down Lynch Hill and back to the transition area (Caution!! Long course cyclist may intersect at this point. Mountain Bike competitors must yield to Long Course competitors).
Run Course
The run course is a two mile out and back course. The run portion of the course will be marked by Small Blue Diamonds.
Triathletes will depart the transition area to the southwest
Climb the Lynch Ramp stairs
Turn left on the trail below the resort store lawn
Cross the bridge and proceed down the beach access road to the turn-around point at one (1) mile on beach access road.
Turn around and proceed back on the road toward the resort store.
Triathletes will run through the festival area on Lynch Road to the beginning of Lynch Hill
Make a sweeping right turn into the finish chute and to the finish line to victory.
Course Closures
There are no course closures for the Mountain Bike Event.
Aid Stations
Earth Water and Gatorade will be provided at all aid stations. Participants are strongly advised to carry fluid and food sufficient for the distance. Water bottles will be available in the Transition are for pre-race filling.
There will be 5 aid stations on the bike course.
There will be 1 aid station on the run course at the run turn around point with Earth Water and Gatorade Endurance only.
Earth Water, Gatorade, PowerBars, PowerGel and fruit will be available at the finish line.
