*USAT announces new rules for "Age Group Division" in 2006 - After great discussion, the USAT Board voted to use an athlete's age as of Dec. 31 to determine his/her racing age group. If an athlete is due to "age-up" into the next group, it will happen at the beginning of the year, not after the athlete's birthday. This action aligns regular U.S. age group racing with the method used by USA Triathlon for its National Rankings Program and its new Grand Prix Series.
Triathlons also have a Relay Division. Relay teams consist of a swimmer, a cyclist, and a runner. Youth Relay Teams: all team members 19 old or under. Open Relay Teams: members may be any age. Relay team members may be either sex. Awards will be given to the top relay team in each division.
Hill Climbs: Medals will be given Sunday to the top three finishers (fastest times from both days) of each Hill Climb: Extreme & Sprint Toughest Competitions: Combined times from all three races in each toughest category will be calculated. Plaques will be presented for the top 3 male and top 3 female combined times in each toughest category Sunday after the last race.
