The Triathlon At Pacific Grove Features:
The Olympic Distance Triathlon (1.5K swim, 40K bike, 10K run) on Saturday for Amateurs, a draft legal Elite Race, and The USAT Junior Elite Cup.
The Sprint Distance Triathlon (1/4 mi swim, 12.4 mi bike and 2 mi run) on Sunday for Amateurs.
Age Group Divisions
| Olympic Distance Individual Age Group Divisions for both Men and Women: |
Collegiate,16 and under, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80+. Age group waves will be 15 minutes apart starting at 7:15 AM. |

The Escape to Alcatraz Triathlon Series was developed in 2003 as an additional option for those aspiring for a coveted spot in one of the most unique and exciting triathlons in the world - The Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon.
The Triathlon at Pacific Grove is NOW a Qualifying Race. Click Here for additional Information.
Winners from each age group will earn a spot into the 2009 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon.
Winners must be present at the awards ceremony to claim their spot as a Qualifier. If the winner is not present then the Qualifying spot will go to the next highest place that is present. Only 1st, 2nd or 3rd place winners are eligible for the Qualifying spot.
(Note: Once a spot is earned, the winner will still be responsible for entry fees into the 2009 race.)

ELITE RACE:
This will be the featured race on Saturday following the amateur race. Top Elite Male and Female Triathletes from around the world will compete head to head for cash purse of $20,000 (1st- $2,500, 2nd-$2,000, 3rd-$1,500, 4th- $1000, 5th- $800, 6th- $700, 7th- $600, 8th- $400, 9th- $300, 10th-$200) and prizes. The draft legal Elite Race will begin Saturday at 12:00 PM immediately after the amateur race.

USAT South West Regional Elite Cup
(13-15, 16-19)
|
USA Triathlon has a National Team Development Program. The Triathlon at Pacific Grove will feature a Junior Elite Race, in which 13-15 and 16-19 age groupers will compete in a draft legal sprint distance race. The Jr. Elite Race is staged, for Saturday at 11:45 am, prior to the Elite race start.
The U-23 division will be a draft legal Olympic Distance race. Triathletes will compete on the same course and at the same time as the Elite Race.

Relay Divisions
Teams consist of a swimmer, cyclist, and runner. Relay teams may be mixed sex.
