Come on…. I’m sure you have all envisioned yourself crossing the finish line with the new Katy Perry song playing in your head.

“I’ve got the eye of a tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire. Cause I am a champion and your gonna hear me ROAR.“ –Katy Perry

I’ve got the eye of a tigerSwim
Picture yourself getting ready for your swim start. It’s the very beginning of the race and you start to get in the zone, you find your eyes starting to narrow as you flash forward to being in the water, riding, and running. You start shaking out your muscles, you fix your cap so it is just right, and then its time for goggles, “your tiger eyes”. Once those goggles go on, there is no turning back. The excitement and nerves are starting to over power you as your wave gets closer to the line. You are ready to pounce…

A fighter
You have officially finished your swim and are now on the way to transitions. You are fighting to get your wetsuit off and into your cycling gear. Your running shoes couldn’t go on any faster… as you are fighting through your stiff muscles to get your helmet on and bike off the rack. While riding, the true fighter in you finally starts to come out as you climb up that nasty grade, and fight your way towards transitions for the last and final time.

Dancing through the fire
You are practically dancing your way out of the transitions area as you begin your run. You are on your last and final push to the finish line. It’s hot, very hot. You begin to feel like you are running through fire. You see an aid station and you just have to go for it! You now feel refreshed for just a second as you run by the dancing group of volunteers cheering you on. And then you realize you are nearing that finish line. Yes, THAT finish line. Your moment is almost there…

Cause I am a champion, and you’re gonna hear me ROAR
You are now running by the roaring fans through the finish chute and the flags are waving by you. At that exact moment, the only energy you have left is to roar as you cross the finish line. The feeling of a champion over powers your body as your share in the excitement with family and friends.

And then it hits you.

“I’ve got the eye of a tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire.”
